Metreon’s Remodel 2012

If you have gone to Metreon recently, you would feel bad for how sad the joint looks. Â I remember as a teenager, Sony’s Metreon was the coolest spot to watch all the movies in their impressive IMAX auditorium. Â There was a Sony Playstation store and a Sony Entertainment store, the coolest subscription based arcade, and a great Games Workshop store. Â Today, there’s just the theater, book store, Jillians and Starbucks.

In 2012, Metreon is going to reopen with quite a few really great new tenants including: La Boulange Bakery, Best of Burger, Massage Envy, So Green Yogurt, Chipotle, San Francisco Soup, Mixt Green’s, Brandy Ho’s, Sorabol Korean BBQ, and Firewood Grill.  The restaurants that will continue to lease space to Jillian’s, Buckhorn Grill and Sanraku.  What’s even better is the City Target that will take over the entire 85,000 square foot second floor. Yes, that’s right neighbors!  We’re getting a Target in the city!  Take that Walmart!

Williams Sonoma’s Ice House Alley Farmers Market - March 30, 2011

A friend at Willams Sonoma just tipped us off to a farmers market they are setting up for Wednesday.  Well, what are you waiting for?  The forecast shows that it will be sunny, and well, we all need to go out and stretch our legs.  Many of you will be wondering where Icehouse alley is: “ICEHOUSE ALLEY, on Green Street and on Union Street west of Battery Street, east of Telegraph Hill.” - Forgotten NY

A letter from a friend at Williams Sonoma:

Sustainable Development Farmers Market
Wednesday, March 30, 2011
11:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Ice House Alley

Spring has sprung! Get out of your chair, step away from your computer, and come down to the Ice House Alley Farmers Market. Come try something new, get some fresh air, catch up with old friends, and make some new ones. Our goal is to make sustainability simple, tangible, and fun. Remember: bring some green because these vendors are cash-only.
Hapa Ramen, Tacolicious, Piperade, El Porteno Empanadas, and CoraCao Confections.
Please feel free to invite your co-workers!

We hope to see you!

The Black Swan Experience: I Was Perfect - April 2, 2011

A reader just passed along this note about a Black Swan preview night. Â I thought it was strange, since the movie has come out a while back. Â And the movie is on DVD/BluRay starting this week. Well, it’s a free showing, and there will be prizes. Â I wonder if Natalie Portman or Mila Kuniz will be there. Â If so, that would be awesome! Â Anyways, it’s in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Check out the invitation here.

RSVP for you city here.

There’s a little web game you can play, but it’s kind of lame and just ends up with a video clip of the movie designating you as a black or white swan. Â I got the black swan.

Here’s the video I got.

Free Holiday Parking in San Francisco Again!

Last year, S and I accidentally found out that we could get free parking as long as we carpooled! Good thing we brought two of our friends with us, because the free parking was for groups of 3 or more. Well, I just made a quick phone call to a few garages, and the same deal is happening:

1 hour free - 3 persons
2 hours free - 4 persons or more

This is valid for the following parking garages (there may be more, but I was only interested in the downtown garages):

Ellis-O’Farrell Garage

123 O’Farrell Street
415-986-4800

Fifth & Mission Garage
833 Mission Street
415-982-8522

Sutter-Stockton Garage
444 Stockton Street
415-982-7275

Union Square Garage
333 Post Street
