I announced the opening of this restaurant a couple days ago and decided to try it today for lunch. It was so disappointing! SF Gate reported this to be an “offshoot” of the Vietnamese hot spot, Saigon Sandwich, in the Tenderloin, but I could find no similarities.
I went during the lunch rush and purchased 2 pork sandwiches - one with no veggies, one with no mayo - for $4 each. Even though there were about 5 customers behind me in line, I was the last person to receive my order. They had to keep remaking the sandwiches because they couldn’t get the order right. When my lunch buddy and I finally received the order, we both found 2 sandwiches we didn’t order. My lunch buddy ended up taking hers back, while I decided to skip the hassle and start eating. Then to my surprise, there was one entire slice of fat in my sandwich. (The photo to the right shows the slice of fat in the sandwich)
If this restaurant really is a branch of the Tenderloin favorite, it puts the Saigon Sandwich name to shame. You can bet I’ll never be eating at this place again.
