I totally stumbled upon this place my first day in NYC back in March 2009. It was nearly 30 degrees and there was a long line in front of this burger stand with outside seating – a good indicator that this place is good. After a quick iPhone check on Yelp to read the reviews, I instantly hopped to the end of the line. Everyone recommended the vegetarian ‘Shroom burger. I was skeptical at first because I love my red meat, but after viewing the menu, I knew this was the burger for me. “Crisp-fried portabello filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese topped with lettuce, tomato and Shack sauce.” This was not your typical uppity $7 burger. For drink, I got the creamcicle frozen custard which was literally a super thick milkshake. K opted for the Shack Stack which featured my burger with a meat patty on top – way too hardcore for me.
At first bite, my teeth sunk into an al dente mushroom followed by an unexpected ooze of cheese spilling out of the burger. Right then and there, I knew this place will be on my must visit list when I come back to NYC. Enough with the talking… now on to some photos!
